The boys and I were looking to add a few bats to our team collection for the state tournament this weekend in Illinois. So of course I went to Kelly’s online to find the stick that I was adding to the mix. I am generally a Miken guy and have swung them for years now that all started with the Ultra II and Freak 98. Mike and another associate at Kelly Sports recommended I try out the BJ Fulk Mayhem. My past experiences swinging Worth sticks had mixed results, so I was a tad iffy on buying one outright without ever swinging it. However, I trusted the guys on the phone and purchased this bat. Last Thursday prior to the state tourney we took some BP, around 75 swings on it. This bat literally was smoking hot, even got a composite rattle after one BP session. All weekend long during the tourney my teammates and I that used this bat hit straight laser beams all over the fields. This was also using horrifically awful Super Gold Dot restricted balls. The bat has a tremendous sweet spot, is extremely forgiving, and at this price an absolute steal. I never even had a thought to use a different bat over the two days. PERSONAL REVIEW:
I tested this bat on 7-30-2010 in Pinole, CA. The field is 316 feet to left 309 feet to center and 311 feet to right. The temp was around 70 degrees with a little bit of wind blowing to right field. We used a mix of miken & dudley high and low compression balls. We tested a 28oz. right out of the wrapper. I hit some good line drives and was hitting them out of the park in the 320 - 340 range with a few of the longer ones in the 350 - 360 range. The bat is very hot right out of the wrapper. This is the hottest balanced Mayhem bat ever made and is probably the best bat in the game for the money. Reviewed by Anthony Kelly.
