DESCRIPTION:
Miken Freak 98 DST ASA Maxload Softball Bat. Maxload swing weight. Thin Handle. 100% Composite. R900 Carbon fiber provides 38.8" higher tensile strength than industry standard carbon fiber. (DST) Durashell Technology acts as a composite "shield" on the outher shell of the 100% carbon fiber barrel, maximizing performance out of the wrapper. Made in USA.
PERSONAL REVIEW:
I tested this bat with Tommy Kunze on 1-14-2010 at Willow Pass Park in Concord, CA. The field is 300 feet all around. We used a mix of high and low compression balls. We tested a 28oz. right out of the wrapper. The Freak 98 DST has got some good pop for a 98mph bat. I was real impressed with the performance and also the size of the sweet spot. Miken's have always been known to have the biggest sweet spots. The Freak 98 DST is very forgiving even if you slightly mishit the ball you can still get a nice hard base hit. The bat also does have enough pop to put em out of a 300 foot field. Reviewed by Anthony Kelly

We will break in your bat by hitting 100 softballs that are pitched from a pitching machine. The balls will be pitched at regular slo pitch speed with an arc of 6 TO 8 ft. We will rotate the bat so the entire barrel breaks in evenly. The Factory shrink wrap paper will be left on the bat during the break in process. This will not void your warranty like rolling your bat in a machine would. For Slow Pitch and Fastpitch Softball Bats the Softball used will be a 12 inch Dudley Thunder 44 core 400 compression.
