Making that Decision all depends on you knowing these questions about yourself and your style of swinging a Slowpitch softball bat.
Do you Know if you like a Balanced Bat versus and End Loaded Bat.
Let me explain the differences between the 2 choices for you ok.
A Balanced bat would mean that the majority of bat weight is towards the bottom of the barrel and gives the bat a lighter feel then the bat actually weighs. A balanced bat would give the batter more bat control to hit the ball to all fields.
An End Loaded bat would mean that the majority of weight is at the top of the barrel towards the head of the bat and would be the perfect choice for those players who Grip n Rip the ball. Pull Hitters in other words.
Do you like a shorter Barrel versus a longer Barrel
Shorter Barrel bats are for the same players who prefer End Loaded bats. They are for Aggressive Pull hitter types. They also have slightly smaller sweets spots to work with and your skill level has got to be higher in order to use one Consistently.
The longer the Barrel the bigger the sweet spot and the more it favors all hitters. It also goes right along with the balanced bat mentality perfectly.
Choosing the right Bat Weight
Slowpitch Bats vary in weights from 24 ounces to a maximum of 30 ounces. When choosing what weight your bat should be, go by your past experiences and the unwritten law on it is that it is always better to error on picking a bat on the lighter side versus the heavier side.
Bat lenght is standard at 34 inces long.
